A therapist who works in the financial world. Sounds crazy when you say it out loud, but that’s exactly who I am and what I do. I should have known early on that I would end up here. My dad is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) in North Carolina, US and my birthday falls on Tax Day in the US. I lovingly joke that it’s one of the reasons why I am a therapist, but maybe more accurately, it’s the reason why I am a financial therapist and behavioral specialist.

In college I was fascinated by relationships and went on to study them; the ins and outs, what makes them work, why do some fail, all of it. I pursued graduate studies eventually leading to becoming Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist here in the United States. Like fate would have it, I fell in love with a boy who wanted to be a financial planner. I remember us joking early on about how we could work together one day; me dealing with the emotional aspect and Clayton the financial.

Our early years took us abroad as we were stationed in South Korea for Clayton’s military commitment. Quickly we learned about budgeting, prioritizing, and making the most of your time. We were privileged to hop around to some of the most beautiful places in the world, interacting with underrepresented cultures and people.

Fast forward a decade and a half, we have two sweet little ones, 3 businesses, and a very full life. I currently maintain a private therapy & coaching practice, The Wealthy Marriage, where my focus is on helping couples who struggle with financial issues or wounds. From difficulty with communication about money to infidelity, my work runs the gamut of couples relational issues.

In addition to my clinical and coaching practice, I also work with financial planners who have an interest in bringing financial psychology concepts and the emotional side of money to their work with clients. I believe that in combining forces it allows for a deeper more meaningful impact on our clients’ lives. I am thrilled to be a part of the Kind Wealth Team.
